A few weeks back, I told you about the Be and D sample sale in NYC. Did anyone go? What did you buy?! Give me the dirt!
Anyways, I interviewed the guys behind Be and D, Be Inthavong and Steve Dumain. Keep reading for a taste of their friendly personalities and fascinating answers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Did you study fashion design? If so, where? If not, how did you learn everything you know now?
Steve: Be studied and grew up in his family’s silk mill in Laos - so it was all organic for him. I studied sculpture and had a vintage luggage collection that I started as a teenager - so the fashion was self taught and from Be!
2. What is your earliest fashion related memory?
Be: When I was in junior high school, I made my mother a train case because I couldn't afford the Louis Vuitton one.
Steve: My mother’s giant closet with handbags and shoes sprawled throughout the floor and walls of it. They were everywhere!
3. How and why did you decide to collaborate together?
Be: It wasn't a conscious decision. We were doing everything together at the time and collaborating was simply natural.
Steve: We didn't decide - it decided for us. We didn't really have a choice - we just started to create together and one thing lead to another lead to Bergdorf’s.
4. What inspires you?
Be: Friends, family and the future.
Steve: Women of strength and independence.
5. Who are your favorite style icons?
Be: Audrey Hepburn and Kate Moss.
Steve: David Bowie.
6. If you could pick one item to keep from your collection, which would it be and why?
Be: I would keep our Garbo Tote - to me it's our hardware usage to speak the energy of classic heavy metal like Paco Rabanne.
Steve: If I was told that there was only one piece I could keep to remember our collection - I would keep our classic Crawford Bag. It is the most timeless piece of luxury for me - if I were a woman ;)
7. Who are your top 5 designer (excluding yourself!)?
Both: John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicholas Ghesquiere, Hubert de Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent.
8. You guys should totally start a blog! Would you ever consider it? Do you read any blogs?
Be: Steve is savvier than I am on this. I hate to admit, but I completely stone-aged when it comes to using the online world. Steve recently tried to get me to Twitter.
Steve: We're more face to face book kind of guys;) - but we do Twitter!! Check us out on www.twitter.com/beandd.
9. What was the original inspiration for the Garbo?
Both: Urban downtown meets uptown glamour. Now it's such a melting pot.....but at the time - it was a bit ahead of it's time.
10. This one's a toughie- if you could only wear one, would it be shoes or a bag?!
Be: Bag!
Steve: I would wear a bag with the shoes inside it!
